MARCEL Nzarora has given Junior Wasps’ head coach Richard Tardy a major boost ahead of the upcoming Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico.

The team’s first choice goalkeeper is close to a full recovery following last month’s knee surgery. Nzarora, who was instrumental in Rwanda’s qualification for the Mexico event, was forced to watch the team’s final trial match of their France training camp from the sidelines because of a nagging knee injury.

The junior wasps went on to lose the game 5-0 (against France’s U-17 side also known as ‘the little blues’).

Tardy yesterday said that the shot-stopper has made good progress and that he is only days away from a comeback.

"His recovery is slightly ahead of schedule which is a plus for the team.

We will make the Germany trip even though he may not play a part in the two friendlies against Koln U-18 (May 22) and Dusseldorf (May 25),” he said.

As part of the team’s build-up, the junior wasps take on AS Kigali this afternoon at Amahoro Stadium.

The match, which is meant to see-off the team, will be graced by many high profile government officials. The World Cup will run from June 18-July 10.
