What should Parliament do about the Abortion Law?

Rwanda’s Abortion Law is still in the corridors of indecision. On whether abortion is criminalized or decriminalized is yet to become certain. However, should women bear the abortion punishment of 3 to 25 years behind bars alone? The public speaks out on what a fair Abortion law means.

Rwanda’s Abortion Law is still in the corridors of indecision. On whether abortion is criminalized or decriminalized is yet to become certain.

However, should women bear the abortion punishment of 3 to 25 years behind bars alone? The public speaks out on what a fair Abortion law means.

"Abortion is absolutely not right; everyone deserves the right to be born and to live. Everyone who participates in the act of abortion should be arrested and punished.”

Joseph Gaga, Managing Director, Default Rwanda Ltd.

"MP’s should push for harsh punishment to all people who get involved in the gruesome act of abortion.”

Adams Rwaka, Freelance Sports Journalist.

"We all know how wrong abortion is, but as Rwandans, it’s our duty to look for solutions to issues that leads to abortion instead of voting for a ruthless penalty for our already traumatized sisters and friends, we should be advocating for mending and not breaking.”

Peter Rwema AMIR, Programs Manager, Research Development and Financial Intermediation.

"It’s not only ethically wrong; it’s unlawful and totally unchristian! We should all put our hands together and fight it to the core; all involved parties should be brought to book, especially the doctors who carry out the dreadful act.”

PaschalBuhura, Radio Rwanda Journalist.
