The new Minister of Trade, Commerce and Industry, Francois Kanimba has warned the ministry’s staff to strictly observe time management if they are to execute their duties diligently.

He was speaking at the handover ceremony from the outgoing minister, Monique Nsanzabaganwa, underscored the need for teamwork to consolidate the current progress in all departments.

The new minister said that the staff needs to report to work on time and use the designated time schedule very efficiently as time management is a key indicator to a disciplined civil service which the government and the public  require from them.

"You have to be in the office by 7:30 am; but the most important is to develop love for your job and make sure you have a clear detailed work plan to guide you,” he said, adding that he is scheduled to engage various units to see how they work.

Nsanzabaganwa was in last week’s cabinet reshuffle transferred to the National Bank of Rwanda as Deputy Governor.

"I don’t want to say that my task is very simple, but I know I have a smooth way,” said Kanimba, who was transferred from the National Bank where he was Governor.

He said that his experience within the financial sector would facilitate his work at MINICOM.

"I was impressed by the achievements Minister Nsanzabaganwa has championed at the ministry, I know it is not 100 percent but I will have an opportunity to use my ten-year experience as a governor to achieve the mandate of the ministry,” he said.

Nsanzabaganwa said that during her tenure, they achieved tremendous success especially in policy making and regulations which has earned it a name as a performing ministry.

"We have a role that was mandated to us by government and we don’t need to do it our own way,” she said, adding that the ministry’s staff had been efficient.
