Editor,
This letter is in reference to an interesting article that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes entitled " Only One Basket campaign: How weaving has empowered Rwanda’s rural women” written by Rachel Garuka.
I would further like to applaud the excellent work being done by the young and dynamic, Salha L. Kayitesi, founder of Beauty of Rwanda, which serves as a glowing example of women empowerment.
She has opened doors for so many less advantaged women, a majority of whom are survivors of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
Rwanda, certainly, has natural beauty. But it is such enterprising and energetic young women like Immaculee Ilibagiza ( Left to Tell ) , Dianah Mukundwa ( School of Finance and Banking ) Clairyce Iribagiza ( Hehe Ltd ) and Salha Kayitesi , among others , who really portray the true "Beauty of Rwanda!”
While I wish Salha every success in her ‘ only one basket ‘ campaign in Rwanda and Kampala , I would also like to invite her to explore the opportunity in launching her campaign here in India and would assure her of the full support from Rwanda Renaissance and the Indian Merchants’ Chamber , which is the leading Chamber of Commerce and Industry in my country.
