Allow me, through your newspaper, to thank Fred Oluoch Ojiwah for his article that appeared in last Saturday’s issue of The NewTimes, titled "Susan Thompson, Rwanda is a modern-day success story”.
It is indeed a shame that people in the West think that if they do not come up with a policy or any initiative, it is automatically doomed to fail.
A case in point is the fact that the West did not participate in the process of reconciliation in Rwanda and, I believe, that is why they think the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi will happen again.
I ask many people outside the country what they think of Rwanda, hearing their answers, you get shocked. They know little about the reconciliation process or Gacaca. I realized that many need to be educated and told about the achievements the country has registered.
It is a shame because Rwanda is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. President Paul Kagame is, in my view, the best Head of State in Africa. The people of Rwanda are, by far, rock stars in that they are taking their destiny into their hands which is something special and a rarity in Africa.
Please keep up the wonderful work, people of Rwanda. Every time I read The New Times, I am inspired by what is happening in Rwanda. I hope to move to Rwanda one day.
