Rwanda’s long distance star Dieudonné Disi clocked 1:02.24 to finish fifth in the Zayed international half marathon a held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

Kenya’s World half marathon record holder and Samuel Wanjiru clocked 1:33:00 to win the race and claim the top prize of $300,000.

Tanzanian Joseph Fabiano who came second with a time of 1:00:42 won $ 100000 and Ethiopian Esitu Wendimu finished third with a personal time of 1.01.16 pocketing $ 50000 respectively.

Disi and Wanjiru may again lock horns in either Boston or London half marathon races in March.

Disi is also the only Rwandan athlete to qualify for next year’s Olympic Games with a time of Disi who is already guaranteed a spot in the Beijing Games after clocking 27:22:23 in Belgium’s Memorial Van Damme race will also take part in this year’s World cross country championship due in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 30.
