NATIONAL U-17 coach (Junior Wasps) coach Richard Tardy insists that the door is still open for players who want to make their mark in next month’s Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico.

The softy spoken tactician, who became a fan favourite after qualifying Rwanda to the World Cup finals, told Times Sport that he would give chance to any player who showed interest in playing at the World Cup.

"I have not selected the final team so the door is still open for anyone interested in playing for the country,” he said.
"Before the U-17 Africa Championship, no one wanted to play for Rwanda but now, everyone is very much interested in playing,” he added.

Tardy also confirmed that he expects to give a chance to new players scouted from Arsenal, Manchester United, Stuttgart, Coventry city academies when the Junior Wasps take on Tottenham’s reserve side next Wednesday (May 18)  in North London, England.

There are reports that more friendlies are being lined up New Zealand and Australia.

In France, the Junior Wasps played five trial games against Drancy U-20 (2-2), Levallion U-20 (2-0), Auxerre U-20 (3-2), Creteil U-20 (2-0) and the French U-17 team were they lost 5-0.

The team leaves for London this Sunday. After the Tottenham tie, they will head to Frankfurt, Germany, for a one-week training camp before flying to the US (Dallas, Texas) for a final practice session ahead of the showdown in Mexico.
