GATSIBO- The Youth Association for Human Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO-Jijukirwa) has donated 32 solar energy panels to residents of Gitoki Sector in Gatsibo District.

The panels were given to members of ‘Public Policy Information Monitoring and Advocacy’ (PPIMA).

The donation is the second following bicycles that were handed to PPIMA members recently.

The district Vice Mayor in charge of Finance and Economic Development, Isiae Habarurema, said that solar energy donation is a solution to the district electrification programme in rural areas.

"Apart from lighting for beneficiaries, these solar energy systems will provide energy for beneficiaries to set up small income generating activities such as saloons,” PPIMA coordinator in Gatsibo District, Fred Musiime, said.

AJPRODHO operates in three sectors of Gatsibo District in collaboration with Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN).

RWN, is a national humanitarian Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to the promotion and improvement of the socio-economic welfare of women in Rwanda through enhancing their efforts to meet their basic needs.
