KIGALI - President Paul Kagame, yesterday, reshuffled the cabinet bringing in new faces to the line-up, with a number of former ministers appointed to other senior positions. 

According to a communiqué signed by Prime Minister, The Ministry Environment and Lands and the Ministry Forestry and Mines were merged and will be headed by Stanislas Kamanzi.

The Ministry of Youth and that of Sports and Culture were also merged with Protais Mitali appointed Minister.

Dr Agnes Binagwaho, was appointed the Minister of Health, replacing Dr Richard Sezibera, who recently took up the post of the EAC Secretary General. 

Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana was named the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, the post Dr Binagwaho held.

Other new entrants to the Cabinet include Albert Nsengiyumva who was appointed Minister of Infrastructure, replacing Vincent Karega, Rwanda’s High Commissioner designate to South Africa.

Francois Kanimba, the former Governor of the Central Bank was appointed the Minister of Trade and Industry replacing Monique Nsanzabaganwa, who was moved to the Central Bank as Vice Governor.

She replaces Ambassador Claver Gatete who was promoted to the position of Bank’s Governor.

Pierre Damien Habamuremyi is the new Minister of Education replacing Charles Murigande, who has been posted to Japan as Ambassador.

Senator Aloysia Inyumba has returned to Cabinet as the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office in charge of Gender and Family Promotion, replacing Dr Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya, who is the new Rector of the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).

Venantia Tugireyezu takes over the post of Minister in the President’s office, replacing Solina Nyirahabimana who was appointed Rwanda’s Ambassador to Switzerland.

The former Minister of Sports and Culture, Joseph Habineza takes over as Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria.

Dr Desire Ndushabandi is the new Vice Rector in charge of Finance and Administration at the National University of Rwanda.
