Employees of the Social Security Fund of Rwanda (CSR) yesterday remembered their former colleagues killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

They held a walk in memory of their 21 colleagues.

Speaking to The New Times shortly after the commemorative walk, the acting Director General of CSR, Afrique Ramba, said: "The main objective of remembering our colleagues is to give them the due respect they deserved and continue fighting the Genocide ideology in the country.”

He called upon Rwandans never to forget what happened during the Genocide, saying this acts as a deterrent.

Ramba said that the whereabouts of some former employees were still unknown, appealing to whoever who may know where they were killed to give the details to CSR so that that they are accorded a decent burial.

He disclosed that the institution would donate 20 exotic cows to a group of Genocide orphans and widows in Mbazi Sector, Huye District to improve their lives.

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for the fight against the Genocide, Jean de Dieu Mucyo, thanked the institution for remembering the former staff and asked them to encourage other institutions to carryout similar events.

He requested the government and non-governmental institutions to provide financial assistance to vulnerable survivors around the country.

"I encourage every institution in Rwanda to construct a monument in memory of their dead employees,” Mucyo said.

He encouraged Genocide survivors to have hope in the future and work hard to achieve sustainable development.
