The management of Nyarugenge District will relocate to pave way for investors.
District Mayor, Solange Mukasonga confirmed to The New Times that they would move to make way for the construction of the second phase of the New Century Hotel, whose construction is already underway at the adjacent former Jali Club site.
The Chinese company that owns the hotel bought the plot where the district offices are currently located.
"We do not want to obstruct any activities concerning investments in our district, so it’s in this regard that we hope that by the end of June, the district offices will have been shifted to another place,” Mukasonga said.
She pointed out that the district had considered taking offices in Insurance Plaza complex near Ecobank Headquarters but decided against it after failing to secure space on the ground floor.
Mukasonga promised that the process of relocation would not disrupt delivery of services.
Meanwhile, the Vice Mayor of Kigali City in charge of Finance, Alphonse Nzeyimana, noted that the one-stop centre dealing with implementation of the master plan will move to Insurance Plaza.
