Kabarondo is an emerging commercial centre in Kayonza District, Eastern Province with a promising business environment.
Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) Regional Coordinator of Eastern Province, Jean Marie Vianney Gakwerere, advised the business community in the area to avoid smuggling, under-declaration of taxes and non issuance of invoices.
"Fiscal avoidance and evasion cases retard economic growth,” Gakwerere said, during a recent meeting with taxpayers.
The meeting was aimed at tackling issues related to tax laws as well as understanding the challenges faced by taxpayers in order to come up with long-term solutions.
To avoid penalties arising from under declaration and late payment, Gakwerere advised taxpayers to always file and pay their taxes on time.
The business community, however, demanded for specific training on tax issues, especially on tax laws and proper bookkeeping in order to minimise on compliance costs.
