JEAN Baptiste Kayiranga got the perfect revenge on his former club after guiding Kiyovu to a 2-1 win over Rayon Sport in yesterday’s Primus League encounter at Amahoro stadium.
Kiyovu were the better side in the first half with Faud Ndayisenga proving a constant threat on the left wing And it was no surprise when the Burundian International put the green baggies ahead on the 16th minute.
In the second half, Rayon coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira brought on Eric Mutoke and pushed Karim McKenzie into a winger role, which proved effective when the Burundian’s cross, was met by Mike Sserumaga to give the blues on level terms (1-1).
But on the 74th minute, Kiyovu striker Theoneste Muhayimana pounced on a defensive blunder to score the winner.
Kayiranga resigned from the Rayon hot seat last season after intense pressure from blues fans who blamed him for the club’s long trophy drought.
The win kept Kiyovu in second place, three points ahead of Police who thrashed Etincelles 7-1 at Kigali Regional Stadium.
APR still top the table with 48 points, 12 points clear of Kiyovu after yesterday’s 1-0 win over Muhanga.
Kwizera Ernest scored the lone goal after 68 minutes.
In other matches, La Jeunesse held AS Kigali to a 1-1 draw at Mumena, Amagaju lost to Marines 0-1, while the Musanze-Mukura match was postponed due to heavy downfall.
