A two-week induction course for judges and prosecutors of the Military High Court and Military Tribunal, who took oath early last month, started yesterday.

The Minister of Defence, James Kabarebe, opened the course, emphasising that justice is a cornerstone for discipline.

He said the course would facilitate the judges and prosecutors’ in their work and also help them develop good relations with other stakeholders within the justice sector.

Brig. Gen. Peter Bagabo, the president of the Military High Court, noted that failure to deliver proper justice has implications on the military as well as the nation.He urged the military jurists to take their work seriously.

Brig. Gen. Jacques Musemakweli and Col. Muzungu Munyaneza were respectively sworn in as president and vice president of the Military Tribunal. Brig. Gen. Frank Mushyo Kamanzi took oath as the deputy president of the Military High Court.

12 other MHC judges and six military prosecutors, who took oath, are all participating in the course that is underway at Prime Holdings.
