AMAVUBI winger Jean Claude Iranzi believes a double over Burundi would boost the team’s confidence ahead of the 2012 Nations Cup Group H return legs against Ivory Coast and Benin.

The Wasps ended their devastating run (identical 3-0 defeats against Ivory Coast and Benin) by beating Burundi 3-1 four weeks ago in Kigali.

Iranzi, who scored one and set up the other goals, now believes that beating ‘the Swallows’ home and away would be a perfect confidence booster ahead of trickier ties against Benin and the Elephants.

"We had a bad start to the campaign and made things hard for ourselves but the Burundi win revitalized our confidence,” the APR player said.

"Playing in their backyard (Bujumbura) won’t be easy but we are prepared for the test.

It is a very important game for us and we shall give it everything,” he continued.

In the first leg, AS Cannes striker Elias Uzamukunda a.k.a Baby and Eric Gasana scored the other goals while Papy Faty netted Burundi’s consolation.

The result moved Rwanda into third place (three points) while Burundi dropped to the foot of the group.

With three wins in as many games, Ivory Coast tops the group with nine points while Benin is second with four.

Amavubi will regroup on May 18; two and a half weeks before the Burundi return leg.

The African tournament will be jointly hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
