KIGALI - The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Protais Musoni, over the weekend, implored the new president of the Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA) president to develop the organisation by consolidating the achievements made by his predecessors.
Musoni was speaking during the handover between outgoing president, Dr Aisa Kirabo Kacyira and her successor, Justus Kangwagye.
Kirabo is a former mayor of Kigali City and now the Governor of Eastern Province, while Kangwagye is the mayor of Rulindo District.
"You should strive to put in place mechanisms that will develop the association and assist the local government in changing people’s mindset towards development,” Musoni advised.
"You have to use your mandate to deliver and I will be happy if you call us to show us you have achieved. We need something visible and you have the capacity and I am confident you will deliver.”
Kangwagye vowed to live up to his promises by working tirelessly towards delivering on the association’s development goals.
"We have patriotic and dedicated workers…what I know is that the association has developed but we shall develop it further. We are going to use the experience we have to ensure that we deliver according to our expectations,” he said.
"We are not going to reap what you sowed; instead we shall plant more,” he told the outgoing committee.
Kacyira promised to extend more support to the incoming committee to ensure the development of the association as well as fulfilling its obligations.
"We are ready to continue providing advisory support to the new committee and it still remains our responsibility.” she noted.
