NYARUGENGE - A local tour company, Primate Safaris, yesterday took Spanish tourists Muhima Sector, Nyarugenge District and joined the residents in the monthly community work commonly known as Umuganda.

They cleared bushes, trenches and dug water channels along Muhima hospital road.

Speaking shortly after the community work, Chris Munyao, the General Manager of the company, said that it is the policy of the company to give back to the community.

"It provides us with a good example to engage in community work alongside the local community because we are part of the society,” he added.

"It’s a really resourceful encounter with the community and it doesn’t happen anywhere in Africa. This is what makes Kigali one of the cleanest cities in Africa”.

Idrissa Nkurunzinza, the Executive Secretary of Muhima Sector, hailed the company for joining them in the community work.
"This road was in a bad state surrounded by bushes, the drainage channels were no longer functioning. We appreciate these people’s efforts to make this area clean,” he said.

He mentioned that they chose to clean the place because the road is used by many people who come to the hospital.
Berrui Tesouro, one of the Spanish tourists, was impressed by what she had seen.

"Rwanda is a very beautiful place. Kigali city is very orderly, clean and you can see the development is vibrant,” he stated.
