NATIONAL University of Rwanda (NUR) sealed their quarter-final berth at the on-going CAVB Men Africa Club Championship in Cairo, Egypt after outclassing Lesotho’s Redskins 3-0 on Friday.

Lawrence Yakan’s experience, artistry and great strength in attack granted the varsity side an easy victory. NUR claimed the first set 25-15 and did not look back as they wrapped up the match by winning the second and third sets (25-18, 25-18).

After the game, head coach Fidele Nyirimana also lauded Flavien Ndamukunda and Vincent Dusabimana for keeping Redskin’s attack quiet with their solid blockers.

It was their second win in as many games and guarantees them a place in the last eight.
On Thursday, the team beat Sudan’s Nahda 3-1. By press time, the team was preparing to take on
Egypt’s Al-Ahly.

In the group of death, (Pool D) things turned hazy when Kenya’s GSU and Algeria’s Blida secured their first wins after defeating FAP of Cameroun and Nigeria’s Ondo.

GSU came from one set down to beat FAP 3-1 while Blida defeated Ondo Sunshine Brothers (OSB) 3-0.
The results mean that the four teams have one win and a loss which literally means that they all still have a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
