The annual Rwanda International Trade Fair will take place from July 28 to August 10, this year, with the Private Sector Federation targeting 20 countries up from 13 last year.
The Acting Director of Investments and Special Projects a PSF, Ephraim Karangwa, told Business Times in a phone interview that the mobilisation of exhibitors started in February.
"We have invited the local business community but we have also invited a large number of exhibitors from the region, Africa, Europe, Asia, Latino-America, including countries like Brazil,” Karangwa disclosed.
The trade fair is organised by PSF in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade and Commerce and is expected to draw over 500 exhibitors compared to last year’s 444.
"This year, we are planning to upgrade the standards of the exhibition, attract more exhibitors with new innovations and also bring in more Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs),” he explained.
Karangwa also announced stall booking of space is still ongoing.
To attract the countries, Karangwa said the Federation had approached Rwandan embassies abroad, foreign embassies based in Rwanda, and PSF sister organisations abroad, to facilitate the Federation in the mobilisation of foreign exhibitors.
He added that this year, the organisers would organise fashion shows during the exhibition besides attracting new exciting technologies from Singapore.
