KIGALI - Air Vice Marshal, Ahmed Tijjani Mu’azu, the Commandant of Nigeria’s Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), who is on a country tour, said that Rwanda’s experience has a number of lessons to offer the continent.
Mu’azu made the remarks after meeting the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. Charles Kayonga, yesterday.
"We came here to pay our respect to the CDS and the entire Rwandan Defence Forces, and indeed, all the Rwandan people,” he said.
"Rwanda has been a shining example to the entire African continent. The manner in which Rwanda handled the experience it went through in the 1990s, and recovered from there, is very exemplary.”
Mu’azu also commended the role of President Paul Kagame’s leadership in the country’s recovery process.
"All our countries have a lot to learn from Rwandan people, and in particular, President Kagame. He is an excellent African leader and an example to the entire Africa.”
Mu’azu is part of a delegation of senior officers from the Nigerian academy on a week-long study tour.
They are particularly interested in how the RDF helps contain disasters, of all kinds, in the country, and the challenges it faces.
