KIGALI - Staff members of Star Africa Media, on Tuesday, visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre to pay respects to the over 300,000 victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi who are buried there.

Star Africa is a subsidiary of a Chinese pay TV company based in Kigali.

The events started with a ‘Walk to Remember’ that was led by the Sales and Marketing Director, Eric Liang Liu, from the company`s Head Office in Kimihurura to the Memorial Centre.

"It’s everybody`s responsibility to remind others of what exactly happened so that Genocide can never happen again,” Liu said during the walk.

"Participation in such activities is part of our obligation so that we have a peaceful developing economy”.

The company`s CEO, Dr. Ken Xie, said that the visit was aimed at expressing the company`s commitment towards the country’s development, not only in business, but also in peace building.

"The Genocide was terrible and horrific. We have learnt more historical truth; it is an experience that teaches us many lessons,” Xie said after a guided tour of the memorial.

Hussein Kamazi, one of the staff members said; "As the youth, the only way forward is working together to restore the pride of our country”.

He also urged the youth to support government programmes saying they were a clear direction towards development and national unity.
The company donated Rwf 1 million towards the maintenance of the Centre.
