Rwamagana-The Director of Electricity, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWASA) in Rwamagana District, Desire Kayiru, said, yesterday that the district has adequate power to power factories.

Kayiru invited more investors to explore opportunities in the district, urging them to follow the footsteps of SteelRwa, which has invested in the district.

"The power we supply in Rwamagana can accommodate heavy factories and industries...investors should be rest assured that there is enough power as SteelRwa Industries, for instance, is happy with the power we supply,” he observed.

Mohd Zaheeruddin, the Steel factory’s General Manager, noted that he has sufficient power to produce his target of 36,000 tons of iron bars per annum.

"Our power needs have grown from 1 Megawatt to 3 Megawatts...this is the capacity we needed at our industry. The factory’s activities are thus going on well as planned, after the required power was availed to us,” he said.

Zaheeruddin further commended the support given by the local population to foreign investors.

The  Mayor  of  Rwamagana, Nehemie Uwimana, reiterated that the district was ideal for investment.

"Power availability is one important factor, but the good political environment is another key element...I am happy to tell the world that we have all it takes to host investors. The geographical location of the district and its topography, are ideal for foreign investments,” he said.
