Police officers trained in performance appraisal

KIGALI - 50 Police officers are undergoing a three-day training programme in employee performance appraisal at the Police Headquarters in Kacyiru, Kigali.The training is conducted by trainers from Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM) and sponsored by the Public Sector Capacity Building Secretariat (PSCBS).

KIGALI - 50 Police officers are undergoing a three-day training programme in employee performance appraisal at the Police Headquarters in Kacyiru, Kigali.
 
The training is conducted by trainers from Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM) and sponsored by the Public Sector Capacity Building Secretariat (PSCBS).

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel Gasana, thanked PSCBS for its financial support and RIAM for providing professional trainers.
He said that the course marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between Police and the two institutions through building the capacity of the police force.

"Globally, capacity building is central in the quest for sustainable development in any country,” Gasana said.

The IGP urged participants to take the training seriously as it will add value to the skills they already have.
 
"Carrying out performance appraisals for the Police will enable us deliver quality service to the people we serve” he added.

Stella Ford Mugabo, the Executive Secretary of PSCBS, pointed out that the institution she represents was pleased to contribute to the capacity building of the Police force.

The commissioner of Human Resources and Support Services, Assistant Commissioner of Police, John Bosco Kabera, pointed out that the training is aimed at enhancing the managerial abilities of the police officers.

He added that after the appraisal course, the officers will also be trained in customer care and service delivery, strategic planning and management, logistics and stock management and fundamentals of budgeting.

The training is part of the ongoing process of professionalising the Rwanda National Police.
