Several top commanders of the Forces for the Democratic Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) militia outfit, have defected from its ranks and returned home. In one week, a good number and their escorts have abandoned the terrorist organization responsible for heinous crimes against humanity, and returned to their country.

This is a trend that has gained momentum over time. Many of them, who had been holed up in the jungles of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), readily return home upon getting accurate information regarding the situation at home, and the good fortunes of those who returned earlier.

The information they get through various channels, including relations back home, has helped many of them to make the right decisions. And they easily understand the aim of misinformation and negative propaganda by FDLR leaders abroad, who also hope to paint a bleak picture in order to sustain their murderous and callous campaign.

These defections, ought to serve as a reminder to the FDLR leaders and those who have lately, opportunistically joined hands with the outfit, that theirs is an exercise in futility.

The implication is that the militia and those who give it succor, are beleaguered, and the days of their terrorist activities are numbered. Sooner or later, the remaining FDLR terrorists who refuse to lay down their arms and other criminal elements will be brought to justice for the crimes they committed against the people of this region.
