Third warm-up game
Auxerre reserves 2-3 Junior Wasps
A brace from Emery Bayisenge and another strike from Andrew Buteera handed the Junior Wasps a 3-2 victory over Auxerre’s reserve side.
The team’s skipper led from the front with two well taken free-kicks to put Richard Tardy’s in command. Buteera then made it three with a clever chip.
Auxerre tried to fight back at the break scoring two goals but the damage was already done.
It was their second win in as many games. On Tuesday, the junior wasps thumped La Valloin 2-0 in what was their second warm-up game of their training camp in Paris, France.
Despite the victory, Tardy is a concerned man following injuries to the team’s first choice goalkeeper Marcel Nzarora, Suleiman Kakira and Arsenal starlet Alfred Mugabo.
Mugabo sprained his ankle during Friday’s training session while Nzarora and Kakira have leg injuries which will keep them sidelined for the rest of the tour.
"Kakira and Mugabo will be out for a week while Nzarora is set to undergo surgery which could keep him out for a month,” the team’s doctor Patrick Rutamu said.
The team next plays Creteil on Tuesday before winding up their training camp with a tough test against France’s U-17 side.
The Little Blues will use the match as a build-up to the Euro U-17 championship slated to run from May 3-15 in Serbia.
From Paris, the team will jet back before heading to London for a high profile friendly match against Tottenham’s U-17 side on May 18.
The team will then proceed to Frankfurt, Germany for a one-week training camp before flying to the US for a final practice session ahead of the showdown in Mexico.
