The donation came from Ituze Association, a local organisation that seeks to fight against poverty and help vulnerable people, including those living with HIV/Aids, to improve their welfare.
Each of the cooperatives, Dukorane Umurava, Ibyiringiro and Abunzubumwe received three cows.
According to, the donation is part of their efforts to assist vulnerable people.
"We have been working closely with local leaders to identify the most vulnerable people in this sector,” said Willy Mutabazi, the Coordinator of Ituze Association. We helped them to form cooperatives and today we are boosting their activities”.
He promised further assistance to the cooperatives.
Esperance Byukusenge, a representative of Dukorane Umurava cooperative, said that the cooperative seeks to expand into other areas of agricultural production.
"We hope that in the coming years, every one of us will have at least a cow. This will help us in improving our living conditions because we will have milk to drink and manure to increase our agricultural production,” Byukusenge noted.
