Dear Editor,

It is worth noting that residents of Musanze district have broken the norm of waiting for government to provide public services. In an effort to light up the district, residents mobilized each other and made a contribution of Frw60,000 towards power installation.

The residents’ economic activities which only includes; Irish potato growing, pyrethrum growing, and cattle rearing at a subsistence level has not stopped them from seeing their dream come true.

This credible achievement has been made possible by settling all the area residents in the respective Imidugudu. This factor also made the sector emerge third on the national level during the presentation of performance contracts last year.

At least 30 houses have been connected to the electricity grid in Kampanga- Rubale cell in Kinigi sector in the rural electrification exercise. Other 36 houses have ELCTROGAZ installations in place, in Nyejyoro settlement, while over 40 families in Nyonirima cell have also paid caution fee and are waiting for power installation.

The residents are now able to use electrical appliances.
