ENGLAND’s Football Association (FA) head of grassroots coaching Les Howie held talks with Ferwafa’s head Brig. Gen Jean Bosco Kazura yesterday at Ferwafa headquarters in Remera.

Howie told Times Sport yesterday that his visit is aimed at creating relationship with Ferwafa so that they can extend their support towards the development of the game in Rwanda.

"We have discussed several possibilities on how Rwanda’s football vision can be achieved. We will be coming later this year to set projects that can lead to the elevation of football in the country,” added Howie who is also part of Project Umubano.

With the support of Ferwafa, Project Umubano delivered a high quality coaching package in 2009 to assist coaching in the country. West Ham United teamed up with MP Alastair Burt to provide funding and equipment to a football coaching scheme.

The club donated a dozen replica shirts and 100 footballs to Project Umubano, which assists youngsters living in Rwanda.

Thirty two coaches of young footballers from all over the country were tutored for a week’s course which was ran by the FA and delivered by Howie.

Project Umubano - ‘Neighbourhood’ in English - which is set to return back in July, will be ran in conjunction with Ferwafa.
