TWO of Rwanda’s cycling prospects Gasore Hategeka and Nicodem Habiyambere are in Switzerland for a six-week training camp at the prestigious World Cycling Center in Aigle.The pair flew out on Saturday and is expected to rub shoulders with last year’s Tour of Rwanda winner Daniel Teklehaimanot, who is considered one of the best riders on the continent.
TWO of Rwanda’s cycling prospects Gasore Hategeka and Nicodem Habiyambere are in Switzerland for a six-week training camp at the prestigious World Cycling Center in Aigle.
The pair flew out on Saturday and is expected to rub shoulders with last year’s Tour of Rwanda winner Daniel Teklehaimanot, who is considered one of the best riders on the continent.
According to the Executive Secretary in the National Cycling Federation (Ferwacy) Emmanuel Murenzi, the pair was chosen basing on their potential.
"They are hungry to impress on the international scene and I think they will be very good cyclists in the near future,” the official stated.
In last year’s Tour of Rwanda, Hategeka and Habiyambere finished inside the top 30.
In a related development, Ferwacy is set to continue scouting for young riders in the Southern Province.
The talent search started in Gasabo this month were over 50 riders between the ages of 16-21 took part in a 42km race.
