La Vallion U-19 0-2 Junior Wasps

THE junior Wasps boosted their confidence ahead of the Fifa U-17 World Cup in Mexico with a commanding 2-0 victory over La Vallion’s U-19 side on Tuesday.

It was a great comeback for Richard Tardy’s team after Friday’s 2-all draw against Drancy FC in Paris and further signals the team’s progress ahead of the global showpiece scheduled to run from June 18 – July 10.

Janvier Benedata and Suleiman Kakira, who was also on target against Drancy FC, scored the goals.
After the game, Tardy lavished more praise on his players.

"We played very well today. We were very compact at the back and created several scoring chances which are very good signs,” he was quoted as saying.
The result was also a confidence booster for Benedata, who was only making his debut.

"It’s great honour to be given a chance and I’m glad that I made the most of it by scoring one of the goals. The team played well and I think we have good chemistry,” the young striker said.

The team’s next challenge is against Auxerre’s youth side tomorrow to be followed by games against Creteil (April 26) and France’s U-17 side (the Little Blues) next Thursday.

The Little Blues are using the match as a build-up to the Euro U-17 championship slated for May 3-15 in Serbia.
From Paris, the team will jet back before heading to London for a high profile friendly match against Tottenham’s U-17 side on May 18.

The team will then proceed to Frankfurt, Germany for a one-week training camp before flying to the US for a final practice session ahead of the showdown in Mexico.
