Staff of the Office of the Ombudsman, yesterday, began a three-day training in investigating cases on corruption and other forms of injustice.

The workshop was organised by the Ombudsman’s office in collaboration with the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD).

Inspector of Police, Modeste Bisangwa, instructed the employees on techniques of collecting, protecting and analysing evidence on injustice and corruption cases.

Bisangwa also guided them through procedures of criminal investigation and how to act as mediators between the citizens and government institutions in cases of injustice.

"You should first get the physical evidence on the case you are investigating because this will help you convince the judge during a trial,” Bisangwa said.

In an interview, the Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara, said that the seminar would enhance performance of his staff, which will have an impact on their work.
