The Rwanda Premier League title race produced another masterclass over the weekend. Title contenders Rayon, APR and Kiyovu made no mistake by winning their respective games whereas AS Kigali endured another slip with a draw against Etincelles with Gasogi also having a weekend to forget in Huye following 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mukura.
Marines FC also put up one of their best performances of the season when they thrashed strugglers Espoir 4-0 to increase their chances of avoiding relegation.
Times Sport brings you five things that shaped the action-packed match day 21.
Rayon’ attack back on track
In their previous three games before facing Rutsiro, Rayon had relied heavily on Leandre Onana who had been in fantastic form in attack.
The narrative, however, changed on match day 21 as coach Francis Haringingo decided to go for a front three. Onana was policed but his attacking partners Musa Esenu and Joackim Ojera showed much hunger for goals and were outstanding over the weekend.
The Ugandan duo scored the two goals that sealed the victory for the Blues over Rutsiro.
APR showing the spirit of champions
Prior to Sunday’s game, Ben Moussa’s men knew they were going to play Musanze FC, who have not won a single game in the second round of the league campaign but the league leaders did not take the game lightly as they went in full force.
The military side outplayed Musanze and beat them 3-0.
APR are showing no signs of complacency with any team as the title race heats up with Rayon Sports and Kiyovu keeping pressure on them.
The club has played every game like a final ever since they reached the summit of the league table.
The Army side has been unstoppable since the beginning of the second round of the league and their scoring form home and away is showing how high their title winning credentials have gone game after game.

Moro back to the party
The Ghanaian striker had struggled for goals in the second round of the league despite netting 9 in the first round.
He finally came to the party against AS Kigali, a club that he nearly joined in the January transfer window. Moro was by far the man of the match as he scored the first goal for Etincelles and was also involved in the equalizer.
Marines so close to relegation safety
Marines are bound to the relegation zone alongside Espoir. The pair came up against each other for a battle between two relegation strugglers but the Rubavu-based side came out on top and stunned Espoir 4-0 in one of their best performances of the season.
With the victory, Marines look to pose more danger against their future opponents in an attempt to get out of the relegation zone at all cost.
Twizerimana hitting form again
Onesme Twizerimana is back and firing to his top form. He was Police FC’s top scorer in the first round before being sacked due to disciplinary reasons.
He later joined Gorilla as a free agent in January and he is now getting to his best again.
Twizerimana scored the only goal as Gorilla beat Rwamagana City 1-0. It is his fourth goal in the last four games for Gorilla and, with his current goal scoring form, he is only getting started.
