Youth have been at the centre of Rwanda’s music industry and its development. Teen Times is happy to talk to Rindro Emmanuel, the MD of Cann Studio, a recording studio that promotes the industry.

Tell us about yourself?
I’m a single guy! I’m also God fearing and ambitious with a strong passion for music especially Rwandan music.

Can you sing?
(Laughs)! Anyone who can talk can single. I can sing but I am not yet ready to compete with the best artists.

What’s your view about Rwanda’s music industry?
I acknowledge that our music has come a very long way. We have seen a lot of challenges in terms of the quality but we are happy with where we are.

Do you mean we are there?
We are not yet there but the future looks bright! We have so many recording studios around the country and so many radio stations are coming up. That’s a great step.

What do you exactly do in the industry?
I work with Cann Studio.  We do a lot of things like organizing concerts and I am the Managing Director of the Company.

What is your vision of the industry in a few years time?
I envision a strong and established industry in Rwanda. It will be a source of revenue for the nation.

Do you have any other hobbies?
I love making friends and spending quality time with my loved ones. I do a lot of outreach work in my community as well.

Any advice for the youth?
I encourage artists to work hard. The fruits will come very soon.
