I am a journalist, who has keenly followed events in Rwanda since the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. I live in Zimbabwe and I want to let the people of Rwanda know that they are in our thoughts as they commemorate the Genocide.

I also want to take this opportunity through your esteemed newspaper to encourage Rwandans to embrace unity and tolerance as they remember the dark days of 1994.

I wish to commend the current government, including President Paul Kagame, who has ably guided the country and transformed it from the ashes of Genocide to become one of the most stable and fastest growing countries in Africa.

I believe Rwandans must be proud and appreciate the good work being done by their government.

I have followed events in Rwanda since the pre-Genocidal era to the post Genocidal era and I can say without contradiction that Rwanda has achieved a lot over the past seventeen years.

The Genocide was a tragedy which must NEVER be allowed to happen anywhere else in the world.
