Editor, I wish to add my voice to reports that some Non- Government Organizations (NGOs) are fleecing unsuspecting Rwandans. The police should investigate to establish the authenticity of these reports. Editor,
I wish to add my voice to reports that some Non- Government Organizations (NGOs) are fleecing unsuspecting Rwandans. The police should investigate to establish the authenticity of these reports.
We have heard many cases where such NGOs use names of the needy or Genocide survivors to justify their quest for foreign funds.
However, once the funds are secured, these so-called NGOs vanish, only to re-start their own projects without assisting the very needy people.
Sometimes, these NGOs inflate the number of the needy to justify huge funding.
I appeal to the relevant authorities like the Ministry of Local Government and Immigration to look into this matter seriously. Though it is good to help Rwandans, it must be done fairly without trickery.
I recall last year when the office of Immigration launched investigations to eliminate such quack NGOs.
What should we do to distinguish genuine NGOs from fake ones? Managers of these quack NGOs must be punished for subjecting our citizens to such suffering.
