I wish to comment on a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes titled: "Amavubi back on track” that indicated Rwanda’s improvement in the latest FIFA rankings.

However, despite this improvement in the rankings, it’s important for the national team to up their game and never take our foot off the gas. We have a bad culture. Once we are showered with praise, we tend to relax instead of redoubling our effort.

We should work even harder so that we participate in the next African Cup of Nations (CAN).

The Government has supported several football projects like the youth academy. I have hope that in a few years to come, Rwanda would be highly regarded in soccer.
Football academies are the greatest catalysts of a good generation of players.
 
From the day Rwanda introduced the football academy, we have seen a new generation of promising players emerge to hold Rwanda’s flag.

The U-17 squad that recently surprised the continent by reaching the finals of the just concluded U-17 African Championship is a good example that a lot is yet to come. There is hope and let us work hard.
