Dear Editor,

Last year, the country suffered fuel shortages partly because the current reservoirs and petroleum companies did not have the capacity to replenish oil since Kenya had been plunged into a political crisis.

It is in this light that the government made a decision to construct a local fuel company which is in the advanced stages.

The petroleum company is meant to boost the country’s fuel storage capacity and ensure steady supplies of fuel even in times of scarcity.

Rwanda investment and export promotion authority (Reipa) has invited the general public to register and raise the capital—for the petroleum company.

When the construction is complete, there will be an increase in storage capacities in the country which will address fuel price instabilities and the reserves will be able to serve Rwanda for up to four months.
