Editor,
A story in yesterday’s issue of The New Times titled: "Rukumberi survivors reward neighbours” was very touching. These rescuers, who helped other Rwandans, in Rukumberi sector, Ngoma District during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi did a great job.
They risked their lives by confronting a barbaric regime. It was a heroic act. I think they are more than rescuers but heroes who didn’t do it to please any one but to help other humans.
We shall always remember the four rescuers, Protais Rutagarama, Augustin Ndayitabi, Mélanie Mukamihigo and Anathalie Mukangobo.
I shall always remember them alongside those killed during the Genocide in my daily prayers. They did a great job like that done by Rwandese Patriotic Front/ Army who stopped the Genocide.
We should never forget that year, as other parts of the world try as much as not to forget what happened to the Jews. It is the duty of each and every African not to forget, what happened in Rwanda.
Those who died left us, but will always be with us. And for the four heroes, may GOD bless you always
