Religious leaders have called upon the public to show love and comfort to survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Rwanda’s Mufti, Sheikh Saleh Habimana said that honouring the innocent people killed during the Genocide was a reminder of Rwandan’s responsibility to promote the value of humanity.

"I call upon the Muslim community and Rwandans in general, to act together and restore hope to those Genocide survivors,” he said.
Habimana urged the survivors to be strong and pray to God to grant them the power to resist the temptation to revenge.
Pastor Joshua Masasu, of the Restoration Church, noted that what was important was restoration of hope.

"We should create a feeling of safety and tranquillity for Genocide survivors by restoring hope in them,” he added.
Masasu urged the survivors to have hope in Jesus Christ who has kept them alive, and always pray for his blessings.

"It is our responsibility as religious leaders, and the whole community, to offer moral support to the survivors, especially during these difficult days,” he said.
