Speakers mainly focused on this year’s theme, "Upholding the Truth; Preserving our Dignity”.
In his speech, the Rwandan Ambassador to Burundi, Kabera Eraste, observed that truth enables the cohesion of all Rwandans who ought to preserve their dignity.
Various speakers hailed President Paul Kagame’s leadership saying that he has guided the country to achieve remarkable development in various domains, including good governance, zero tolerance to corruption, socio economic growth, unity and reconciliation of Rwandans, health, women empowerment, cleanliness of Rwandan cities, among others, after the genocide.
The Government of Burundi was represented by the Minister of Interior Affairs, Edouard Nduwimana. Others were former President Sylvestre Ntibantunganya, and other high ranking government official, members of the Diplomatic corps, civil society, and the Media.
