The Rwandan Embassy in Germany, on Thursday, joined the rest of the world to honour victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The commemoration was held in Berlin and attended by Diplomats, several German government officials, Members of the German Parliament and the Rwandan Diaspora, in show of solidarity with the victims and the people of Rwanda.

Speaking at the event, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Germany, Christine Nkulikiyinka, stressed that the honour of the victims of the Genocide must be seen as an alert to prevent it from never happening again.

"It is a common task to uphold the truth about the Genocide and preserve the dignity of Rwandans,” she added.

In Germany other services for the commemoration are planned today in Kaiserslautern, Heidelberg and the Rhineland-Palatinate.
