Burera - A Ugandan man suspected to be involved in the murder of Dick Ndatira, a parliamentary aspirant for the Kisoro District seat during the recent elections in Uganda, was yesterday arrested in Musanze District.

This was revealed during a meeting between Rwandan Police and local authorities from both sides of the Cyanika border that connects Burera and Kisoro District in Uganda.

Police identified the suspect as Richard Niyonsenga. He is wanted by Ugandan police on charges of murder, robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.

The suspect will be handed over to Interpol in Kigali, which will in turn hand him over to the Ugandan police.

Meanwhile, the Ugandan delegation led by the LCV Chairman of Kisoro District, Philemon Mateke, reported that two Rwandan youth who died in Kisoro early this year may have been killed by assailants.

The deceased, identified only as Twarayisenze and Ntegereje, both residents of Gahunga Sector in Burera District, are said to have died under unclear circumstances during the presidential elections in Uganda.

According to Mateke, the suspects involved in the killing were arrested and charged.

"This meeting has cleared the air; it has created confidence between the two peoples. We should strengthen the bond of friendship and have mutual confidence,” Mateke said.

The meeting, which was chaired by the Burera District Mayor, Samuel Sembagari, discussed ways of ensuring sustainable security and fighting the smuggling of drugs and illicit brew, especially Kanyanga.

After the meeting, police destroyed over 2,500 litres of Chief Waragi and 850 litres of local gin, Kanyanga.
