Dear Editor,

Rwandans should have nothing to fear for Rwanda Environment Management Authority (Rema) has unveiled new guidelines of using environment conservation policies to accelerate the national anti-poverty campaign.

The PEI programme is aimed at enhancing environmental strategies to reduce poverty.

Among the strategies include monitoring the indicators within the national framework of poverty fight and stipulating necessary actions and approaches for their effective implementation.

The strategies also highlight attempts to find solutions for poverty eradication directly linked with environmental problems. It also aims at supporting sustainable growth and achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) set to transform the developing world from deprived welfare.

I appeal to government to give this programme priority and not postpone since it will greatly help Rwandan citizens come out of poverty sooner than they expected. Let all the Rwandans join hands in whipping poverty out of the country.
