Dear Editor,
According to the article published in The New Times dated February 20, district leaders were of the view that they own performance contracts if they are to achieve any major development goals.
I am in full support of this ideology.
When one has full ownership over something, he or she devotes himself to nurturing it into whatever he likes. Full ownership means socialising with the people. Society gets to accept its leaders if there is frequent reassurance through mobilization. Here, development is registered easily.
It is also important that mayors do not relax at the beginning of the year, only to start running up and down towards the end of the year which results in to delays and haphazard work.
I also appeal to the concerned authorities to deal with leaders who illegally award tenders, and misuse government funds.
I advise that leaders think about strategies towards development, discuss them and have them implemented.
