APR need six more wins to retain the Primus National Football League (PNFL) title. The champions registered their 12th successive win after Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Mukura.

Midfielder maestro Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi, who is the club’s top scorer this season with eight goals netted the only goal of the match to see off a determined Mukura side that was seeking to dent Ernie Brandts’ unbeaten record.
The army side is enjoying its best run in the league after finishing the first round with a 100 per cent record.

With a huge 10-point gap separating APR and their nearest rivals Kiyovu, APR need six more wins to hold onto their title.
APR’s next six games are against Amagaju, Kiyovu, AS Kigali, Musanze, Muhanga and Etincelles.

On paper, Kiyovu coached by former APR coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira and Etincelles pose a threat but the military side convincingly defeated the two teams in the first half of the league.

However, APR coach Brandts has warned his guns not to take the foot off the accelerator.
"It would be suicidal for us to think that we have already won the championship. We will stay on our feet until it is mathematically clear that we are champions,” the Dutchman said.

In other league games played on Wednesday, second placed Kiyovu defeated AS Kigali 2-0 to move to 25 points, Marines thrashed Musanze 2-0, Police saw off Amagaju 2-0 while Rayon Sport was surprisingly held to 1-all draw by relegation battling Muhanga.League action continues next weekend.
