LOCAL sporting events have been temporarily halted in honour of victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Culture Jean Pierre Karabaranga made the confirmation yesterday.

"Let’s devote this time to mourn all those who lost their lives in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi,” he said.

This means that league action in football, basketball, volleyball, handball and cricket resumes late next week.
