Washington DC - The Rwandan Embassy in Washington DC, in collaboration with the members of the Rwandan Diaspora (USA) have organized a series of events to commemorate the the 1994 genocide against Tutsi.
The main event will kick off today at Capitol Hill.

A delegation from the White house, Members of Congress, Diplomats and friends of Rwanda, are expected to participate.
 
James Kimonyo, Rwanda’s Ambassador to the US, noted that it is also a time to fight deniers of the Genocide, whom he said, have abandoned the core values of humanity.
"These individuals have betrayed the greater good that life has to offer for all of us just to fulfil their personal and political interests,” Kimonyo said.
 
"We must all act like watchmen and women on guard, to prevent denial”.
The Ambassador added that Rwandans must be mindful of whatever trials and challenges that lie ahead of them.

"It is important for everyone to intelligently and diligently fight the deniers who seek to destroy our nation and our people,” he stressed

Dr. Linda Melvern, Author of ‘Conspiracy to murder’ and Dr. Susan Allen, from the Emory University are among speakers at the event.

A testimony from Yvette Rugasaguhunga will also be heard.
On April 8th, 2011, the Rwandan community in North America will bring together scholars and researchers in a panel session, to discuss and create awareness about the Genocide.
