Editor,
As we commemorate the Genocide against Tutsi today, let us also remember the successful struggle to liberate Rwandans from the bondage of slavery. Though our brothers and sisters died during the liberation struggle, their cause was not in vain because, Rwandans have gained freedom.
When the dictatorial regime of Juvenal Habyarimana was still in charge, Rwandans had no say and were subjected to untold suffering. Dividing Rwandans along ethnic lines was the order of the day. Many innocent Rwandans were kept in jail for many years without trial. Extra judicial killings were common.
I wish to thank the government for uniting all Rwandans. The reconciliation process embarked on soon after the Genocide has produced good results. We are all Rwandans and must resist whoever tries to divide us.
