Military judges, prosecutors sworn-in

KIGALI - Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, yesterday, presided over the administration of oath to judges and prosecutors of the Military High Court and the Military Tribunal.Brig. Gen. Peter Bagabo and Brig. Gen. Frank Mushyo Kamanzi took oath as president and vice president of the Military High Court, respectively.

KIGALI - Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, yesterday, presided over the administration of oath to judges and prosecutors of the Military High Court and the Military Tribunal.

Brig. Gen. Peter Bagabo and Brig. Gen. Frank Mushyo Kamanzi took oath as president and vice president of the Military High Court, respectively.

Brig. Gen. Jacques Musemakweli and Col. Muzungu Munyaneza were respectively sworn in as president and vice president of the Military Tribunal.
 

The ceremony, held at Prime Holdings, also saw 12 other Military High Court judges and six military prosecutors sworn in.
 
Makuza told the judges and prosecutors that their new responsibilities are in line with national development efforts. He went on to urge them to contribute significantly to the entire justice sector.
 
"Your new duties require a lot of dedication and I have no doubt about your ability,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the role of the Rwanda Defence Forces in national building is undisputed.
 
"This is an additional service to our military’s duties of protecting national sovereignty.”
 
The Premier assured the officers of continued government support, especially in capacity development in their field, whenever necessary.
 
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Tharcisse Karugarama, and the Minister of Defense, James Kabarebe, were among the senior officials who attended the ceremony.
