THE national U-23 football team was yesterday eliminated from the 2012 London Olympic Qualifiers after losing to Zambia 1-0 at Amahoro stadium.

Despite reinforcing his squad with six new players, Coach Sellas Tetteh’s team was short on imagination, motivatation and morale.

Rwanda had lost 2-0 last week in Lusaka and needed a 3-0 win to progress to the next round, but the U-23 side failed to create any meaningful chance in the first half, much to the frustration of the expectant crowd.

Zambia scored on the 62nd minute through striker Felix Nyaende.
